This is a traditional watercolour study of a lotus. Lotuses are a symbol of spiritual advancement. Particularly in Buddhism. Many goddesses are seen standing on lotuses. I think it represents a balance or harmony of energy. The petals open left and right to represent spiritual awakening or the awakening of your energy centres. It is one of the few flowers that seems to surpass the earthly realm into the spiritual realm in terms of representation. I just wanted to paint a lotus as it is. Its simple beauty. Done in Spring in Singapore
Peaches are a symbol of longevity and immortality. This is a watercolour study of peaches done in Spring. The varying shades show a ripe peach to peaches that are ripening. The fruit once consumed endures your immortality. A symbol of spiritual energy.
One of my older pieces. One of the pieces that depict spiritual travelling. Travelling and reaching the door of the jade realm. I believe those are the jade guardians featured. Jade guardians i feel are present in every piece of jade. The lines of fire in the soul, jade souls travelling.
Happy Chinese New Year to all celebrating. If you are not celebrating but it is a holiday in your area or country Happy holidays. If its not a holiday there may you share in our good wishes for a good new year. This is the year of the tiger according to the Chinese Calendar.
I have not had a lot of time to draw lately. Busy because of New Year preparations. I drew this artwork on one free day during the New Year. I am playing fate chess with a friend. The spirit animal joining us in this case is my friend’s dragon called teapot. Hes the lovely colour of a brass or gold teapot. He moves the chess pieces when we are not looking. So he cheats basically. We ignore him and continue playing and having our conversation and drinking tea. Its a nice way to pass the afternoon in the spiritual realm and we are enormously fond of teapot. What would chess be without him ?
