Hair braided in white, Sitting in meditation. Our soul is within And in front of us Our chi is collected Shimmering in the colours Of the aurora borealis We disperse.
Looking at the sublime-the transcendence of the soul into unified energy, from the broken, burnt branches of life that become ash. Very potent transition we all go through. Done in winter
Hope you are all well, the weather here is warm at the height of Spring. If its cold where you are, i hope you are having a restful time. I think the most potent periods of transition happen when we don’t notice them. But they are there for us, nature calls us to her and transforms us.
Some new artwork on the wall outside my house ! A very old sketch as well of yin and yang water versus fire (bottom right), an abstract painting of entering the jade realm (top left), one of the Gods passing through heaven (top right) a beautiful bird from the park, he is so handsome (bottom left)
I have been super busy over Chinese New Year. I hope you are all well, no matter which part of the world you are in. We all deserve to start the year well and i am sending you love and good wishes.
This is a painting of the process of energy moving up from the body. Particularly the blue line of energy from the base of the spine. The soul energy could be reflective of the inward projection of the soul or one’s ancestors coming to be present. The lines of energy move very fast.
The time stamp on this artwork said this was done in Spring. That could perhaps account for the light, and airy nature of the energy coming forth in this painting. Probably threads of which i wish to continue exploring.
I hope you are all well, and taking it easy during this busy time of celebration. I hope for all who are nof celebrating Chinese New Year that your year is starting out great. If it is not, breathe and relax into the new year. That is what i am telling myself !
I painted this silk fan as a gift for my teacher. I was so happy she liked it. It is the first silk fan i painted so i was pretty nervous. The fan is painted with acrylic paint. Please do not try to use Chinese inks as the ink will bleed all over the fan !
The design is winterblossoms, and some are open and some are budding. The petals are also floating in the wind. It is stamped winter at the top, with my name at the side. I was aiming for something contemplative, and dreamy. I think it is both. The kind of artwork you look at when relaxing, and drinking tea. Pondering the fragrant, but fleeting nature of life.
Happy Chinese New Year Everyone ! Wishing you all good health, happiness and prosperity this Lunar New Year of the rabbit.
For all who are not celebrating Chinese New Year I wish you a most blessed year.
This is the artwork i have chosen to share with you this Chinese New Year.
It is the first paper fan i ever painted with Chinese inks. It is a self portrait with mountains and a weeping willow tree. The words read xia yue, ning jing. Meaning quietness is summer time. The stamp has my name and the second stamp like an oval says pu ti. Which means Bodhi in Chinese. Wherever it is the season or has a feeling i use the appropriate stamp.
I think I painted this fan to have one to sit and drink tea in the park, and just fan. Because it is so hot sometimes, i am pretty sure this was why i painted it in summer.
It is the first fan, so i am very much learning to improve. I carry it to remind myself if i try, i can learn something new.
It is very delicate, being paper so it will not withstand the rain so i am careful with it.
Chinese New Year is just round the corner for all who are celebrating. This is the year of the rabbit and i wish all celebrating a happy, healthy and successful year of the rabbit.
I am breaking transmission of what i was going to post to share some Chinese inspired and Chinese themed work with you in celebration of the season.
This is one of my beloved sketches that i kept hidden away in my sketching journal. It is a self portrait in olden times, daydreaming. Some of my best and most important days in my life have been when i have been daydreaming. So this is how it feels in my mind and soul.
A trip into the underworld, accompanied by God in a carriage. The carriage raced in the darkness through a sea of souls, and one must have startled the carriage horse. God looked out the window and calmed the situation, and we raced on our journey.
From the depths of the underworld, God looked surprised as he steadied me and looked out the window, the souls were a riot but he calmed the situation quickly.
