I am sharing this one because a few friends liked the composition. I have some advice to share as well. This is done in Chinese inks on watercolour paper. Though i do love this painting the spots probably due to water from the brush are driving me crazy. I loved the idea of this painting though. The lady of the golden lotuses. My advice is not to use Chinese inks on watercolour paper, the Chinese black ink does not take well to the paper. Neither does the Chinese seal. Still as my friend mentioned. The chaos is part of the process. My other friend mentioned. Just think of the spots as the design on her dress.
I am decorating the wall outside my house with artwork. There is more and more artwork as time goes by. There are children living on the floor so i try to choose artwork that they can enjoy as well. I try to choose the pieces i never get tired of looking at.
This is a traditional watercolour study of a lotus. Lotuses are a symbol of spiritual advancement. Particularly in Buddhism. Many goddesses are seen standing on lotuses. I think it represents a balance or harmony of energy. The petals open left and right to represent spiritual awakening or the awakening of your energy centres. It is one of the few flowers that seems to surpass the earthly realm into the spiritual realm in terms of representation. I just wanted to paint a lotus as it is. Its simple beauty. Done in Spring in Singapore
Happy Chinese New Year to all celebrating. If you are not celebrating but it is a holiday in your area or country Happy holidays. If its not a holiday there may you share in our good wishes for a good new year. This is the year of the tiger according to the Chinese Calendar.
I have not had a lot of time to draw lately. Busy because of New Year preparations. I drew this artwork on one free day during the New Year. I am playing fate chess with a friend. The spirit animal joining us in this case is my friend’s dragon called teapot. Hes the lovely colour of a brass or gold teapot. He moves the chess pieces when we are not looking. So he cheats basically. We ignore him and continue playing and having our conversation and drinking tea. Its a nice way to pass the afternoon in the spiritual realm and we are enormously fond of teapot. What would chess be without him ?
I’ve been making mooncakes or cakes in a chinese style. These are my preparation plates so theres some lotus paste on them. The design of the cake with the tuan yuan words or reunion are osmanthus and lotus paste. The design with just the lotus are rose lotus paste cakes. Theres a picture of the rose lotus balls. They look like a bit like chinese medicine balls glowing in a beautiful colour. This batch turned out well. Was a batch of 14 cakes. We have given them in pairs (one rose one osmanthus) to our neighbours and friends closeby. The tuan yuan is meaningful because now is Chinese New Year so it reminds people to have a happy reunion ❤
If you look closely, there are energy lines. Yellow for nobility and kindness, purple for spiritual wisdom and blue for intellectual wisdom. The colours are emanating out of the soul meaning these are the affinities of their soul. These are immortal fires so the energy that surrounds them caused by their interactions with existence and the universe and casuality are a kind of gold fire which is spiritually a protective colour. May these fires protect you and light your mind.
The God of rain and thunder, the master of music. No one really knows what it means when rain flows and thunder breaks. He plays a tune on the qin, roiling grey clouds beneath him. Rain is flowing from his heart onto his strings. His light emanating from him.
I made these Fantasy hairpins. They are inspired by hairpins you see from movies of ancient times. They look a little like something from an archaeological excavation. Like bones with a touch of fantasy. I really want to continue making them, they’re very interesting to me. Part art part functional. They represent a certain elegance. What can you say through your sculpture at the tip of a hairpin that when someone wears they will be reminded of ? Questions. Hairpins are interesting. People don’t really notice them but they do make a statement about who you are
