Happy Halloween wherever you are and whatever it means to you. In honour of Sandman by Neil Gaiman soon coming to Netflix i made this Sandman sculpture relief sometime ago. He was kept away in the box for a long time no doubt giving dreams to all the other creatures in my box. I took him out of the box the time seemed right. This year i know has been difficult in many ways for many people and when i put up my decorations at the door. It dawned on me small children live on the same floor and i wanted something spooky but something that wouldn’t frighten the children but rather show that the darkness or shadow can be beautiful. The sandman on my front door was made with recycled clay. It was clay that kept coming to pieces. Im surprised its still in one piece apart from a little broken hair. The dragon was also very breaking apart clay. The key is not to use breaking apart clay. I have displayed the Sandman on my light in my room. He stands right next to a Dreamcatcher sold to me by musicians from South America. Its very appropriate i think. We get along well. Sandman is so sexy.
I love sphinxes. They are the mother of all wisdom and they answer your questions with riddles. Only when you answer successfully do you find the door to yourself. This sphinx sits on a clear quartz crystal with many inclusions. The crystal looks like it has been cut from ice. From the desert to the ice. This sphinx is friendly. Their smile is welcoming. I look at it and ponder existence. The sphinx somehow looks ancient.

This is a piece i made and have worn a lot because its close to my heart. The idea is that Peter and Alfred have one wing each and cannot fly, except with each other.
I wore it when i went to get vaccinated. I wanted to feel like these little angels were with me. The lady there commented it was a very unusual piece. I looked down and realised Alfred’s wing had broken. I sling my bag across my shoulder so that could be what happened. I came home and repaired him. Another day his wing broke again when i dropped him by accident.
Alfred has been heavily repaired, and Peter and Alfred are much loved angels.
All i can say is whatever you create, feels like it is alive and has a life. I think by extension of the fact we have energy and consciousness running through us. Our soul is this intangible force we do not understand. There is no escaping this. I see it in the faces of the little beings i create. Therefore love whatever you create, and create with love. You will be surrounded by what you create and you want these beings to have good intentions.

I think this necklace has pagan origins. The harvest comes to mind. The turning of autumn’s colours, the browning of the leaves, the leaves that seem gold in the fading light. The quartz chosen is full of inclusions. The light and display of nature’s intricacies. Phallic shapes in nature’s creations. The acorn. The falling fruit. The celebration of the harvest, the strength of creation.

I made these Fantasy hairpins. They are inspired by hairpins you see from movies of ancient times. They look a little like something from an archaeological excavation. Like bones with a touch of fantasy. I really want to continue making them, they’re very interesting to me. Part art part functional. They represent a certain elegance. What can you say through your sculpture at the tip of a hairpin that when someone wears they will be reminded of ? Questions. Hairpins are interesting. People don’t really notice them but they do make a statement about who you are
